Well two shelfs split between 3 doors. I'm going with plywood on everything BUT the top. I might have a good source for some hardwood pieces,

Any idea how much a sheet of plywood goes for? Just trying to get a rough idea

4x8x3/4 of oak furniture grade is what, I think $40-50 up here.
 
You want to get furniture grade wood, and of a good wood at that, such as oak. Costs more up front, but it's better to work with, looks a lot better, and will last longer.
