That increase, and the fact that the eyebolt mount should be about an inch shallower than the track system, means the top of the bag should be around 65" high. That means a five foot bag will just barely fit - unfortunately, they don't make five foot Thai bags.
 
The long chains provide the bag a better ability to swing.
The spring provides a swing also, but with short chains, the swing picks up an unusual motion.
The spring cannot, obviously, be used without chains, as it must connect with four spread out connecting points.
 
That would provide a 74" spacing, which would allow a 72" bag, and it would put the top of the bag just a little above my head, while allowing the tab to swing.
