That's why alternatives are flourishing. Big time!
 
To complete the installation, it required a system restart. This system restart then included a number of Windows updates, adding a couple minutes to the total.
 
The load time to each page was impressive, faster than Opera 11 (an unremarkable browser, the older versions were better), and faster than Firefox (the safe browser). However, the rendering left much to be desired, words were fuzzy. My gaming FPS counter also picked up on IE9.

I've never seen a large corporation where IE wasn't the standard. And I've worked for huge corporations (Fortune 20).

With that being said, we deal with hundreds of universities and their browsers run the gamut. I'm technically supposed to test my stuff against IE, Firefox, and Safari.
 
Closing the last tab is allowed - and closes the browser. Running multiple tabs opens multiple panels on the taskbar, which is extremely bothersome to my style.

I've only worked for one large workplace, and it was a university, where the standard is Firefox, and for the Apple users, Safari or Firefox.

Forcing professors to do anything is rather difficult.
 
I do wonder why almost no corporation uses Internet Explorer. I've heard reasons of using an official Microsoft product, it comes installed, it's not open source (and that, by extension, open source is a bad thing), et cetera.
