Got an email at 8:15 AM today that a system was down (I am not 100% sure if people were actually working). Didn't see it until about noon, and my power got knocked out for 90 minutes. By that time, I had forgotten about it (due to the power being out and another issue -- my wife is now the victim of identify theft :| ) and we left to get lunch and were eating before I realized that I forgot to connect and check when power came back on.

I'm going to tell my boss that he needs to figure out how we're going to support it over the summer because I am NOT going to be chained to my house 24/7 over the summer and furthermore, it is not my job to provide detailed summaries of issues to the business owner. That is an IT discussion to have and I don't owe the business owner an explanation.

My boss will agree with what I said and then the moment an outage occurs in the heat of the season, I'll be expected to drop everything and fix it. I didn't ask for this fucking environment (we outsourced part of it last year) and I am going to be the one paying for it. Unless the interview goes well Thursday, that is. 😀
