I don't mind vacations, but she tries to upsell me.

When I was single, I rarely went on vacation and I sometimes wish I'd have a year where we didn't go anywhere and could save the money or use that money for more projects.

In 2009, we spent 2.5 weeks in Europe. In 2010, we went to Hawaii for a week. She was pushing for 2 weeks in Ireland this year and I told her I think we should stay home and do something more modest, like maybe a road trip out west.

I've got a fine line to walk. While I'm still relatively young, I think we DO need to travel and see things. On the other hand, we have a few house projects that I'd like to finish, the biggest being the revamp of our back yard.

It honestly hasn't affected us. Both of us make really good money and both of us work for non-profits which are both really secure (I'm in the sports/higher education industry, she is in the energy conservation industry). My main problem is that she still have not put her condo on the market to sell and I told her that we're not going to on vacation to Europe again until it is on the market. She has had ample time.

We're probably just going to go to Tampa for now, but she expects a longer vacation in the fall.

I've encouraged her to go on girl trips with her friends instead of these big vacations every year, but the problem is that her friends are all single and broke. She makes more than 2 of the 3 combined and probably also makes more than her third friend, who is a lawyer.
