New nVidia Vista Drivers are out ---> 101.41

Nice. Some fixes.

I was wondering, looking at some of the 8800 fixes, most of them are listed for the 8800GTX...I wonder why that is. The GTS and GTX are not radically different are they?

they suck for me in 32-bit Ultimate as well. Media Center was buggy and live tv was so choppy. Enabling SLI with my 7800GTX's caused all kinds of problems as well. Rolled back and all is like it was.

For some reason didn't install the control panel for me in x64. Otherwise haven't seen any problems yet though only tested in WoW.

They are beta drivers so expect problems etc...personally I never install beta drivers unless I have too.

That doesn't really explain the problems with the WHQL drivers. 😉

NVIDIA SLI support
DirectX 9 support for GeForce 6/7/8 series GPUs

That's something for a change... :disgust:

What dedicated 8800 series drivers?

The 100-series drivers have been unified from the beginning.

sorry never realized that. i just switched to a 8800 after 3 yrs of ATI cards. NVidia makes you select weather or not you have a 8800 or older geoforce card, so I though they were different.

then my switch to Vista has confused me even more cause i have downloaded so many different nvidia drivesrs lateley.

I saw a thread on the official nvidia forums. A user said this driver package is missing an important file. He fixed it by installing the driver over the previous one (without uninstalling the old driver). The filename (and download location too I think) is in a thread in the Forceware drivers section on forums.Nvidia.com.

Edit: Tried to look for the thread. No luck. 🙁

I had this problem as well. Did a clean install of the 101.41 drivers and had all sorts of problems with choppy video. Went back and just installed these right on top of the 100.65 ones and everything is smooth so far. No problems at all.

BTW, if you look at the install files, 100.65 is 54MB, 101.41 is 29MB, so it seems like something's gotta be missing in there....

You'll get some new drivers at some point, they're just devoting more time to Vista now.

I didn't mean to imply that it was your fault. nVidia took a step backward by providing separate drivers for G80 in Windows XP, and they had to leave the 8800 series separate in their driver selection page because the OS comes after that choice. Hopefully nVidia will release unified XP drivers and remove the separate 8800 category altogether.

I installed them becuase they were supposed to fix the display corruption with UAC and the welcome screen.... but I've still got the same problems. If I use the MS supplied driver, no artifacting. Anybody else experiencing this?

well i just downloaded 64 bit version of 101.41 ...size is 43 MB

🙂 after reading this thread, i think i'll wait. There are only 2 games, so far, i can't get to work out of the 20 i have installed.
