New Nvidia Drivers

I think the new drivers aren't working right. My text in my AIM windows are outlined in different colors and blurry. Also when text gets too small it has a hazy red outline on some letters. Is anyone else seeing this??

Which AIM client are you using. GAIM I know has had problems in the past with the GTK interface corrupting the text.

Other than that, I am not sure. I haven't had a chance to use Vista yet 🙁 (Damn college is taking its sweet time making it available for student purchase 😛 )

Wrong.

I have been using Vista + a few games for a while now.

Granted, i am not running an 8800, but i wouldn't have any interest in one either, since nV still can't seem to figure out how to write drivers that allow hardware acceleration in portrait mode, nevermind the lack of Vista drivers fiasco.

Which is too bad, since my 2560x1600 display could use an 8800 powering it 🙁

How will that solve the G80 driver problems with Red Faction?

no idea ...

however it does solve tuteja1986's problem of finding a copy of Red Faction ... 😉
mine is flying to a new home in Australia on Monday. 🙂

I'm using the new AIM 6.0. I hate it but AIM 5.9 doesn't install on Vista.

You shouldn't need Nforce Drivers for Vista from what I have read. But you do bring up a good point- I wonder why we don't see new Nforce drivers yet.

(Does anyone know, just for reference, if AMD has released drivers for their Express chipsets under Vista?)

Yes, I need sound and RAID driver. RAID driver from XP works though, but I'm not sure that 64-bit version does.

Wow, they need to get their heads on straight.

Why is nVidia limping with good drivers lately? Didn't they use to provide some of the best drivers for their hardware?

edit:

Note: It's 3:00 pm here in the mid-west and nVidia still doesn't have a download for some WHQL Vista drivers on their site. Just buggy beta drivers. Better than nothing I guess...

All drivers have their bugs. Even drivers before that one had bugs similar to all of those. Because this is all happening so fast, the bugs seem more apparent. Look through some of the old ATI and Nvidia release notes- you'd be surprised how many bugs they normally have.

I am concerned about the drivers though. They said January 31 yet I still don't see any drivers. Granted there is still 11 hours left in the day over on West Coast, you would think they would be up by now. I guess we will wait and see.

Oh LOL, I see, he was asking for a copy rather than for his drivers to be fixed.

They need to stop hiring AEG agents and hire more driver programmers.

No they didn't, not even close. The 7900 GTX drivers are my current gold standard because they only have one or two issues I can think of.

I've never used a GPU that had such buggy drivers like the G80 and that includes the 9700 Pro when I used the launch drivers off the CD.

So we got us some BETA drivers! :|

Not much better then 100.54. Not worth messing with IMO.

I'll say. I just read the realease notes and wow- that's a lot of issues/non-working features. Blah.

Yeah, I think NVIDIA needs to do some more hiring or something. This is getting ridiculous.

The 8800 was in development for 4 years and they had more then enough time to have good solid stable drivers ready for Vista. Hell, their 8800 XP drivers suck so I don't have much faith in them fixing these anytime soon.

Updated with the latest drivers.

Kind of disappointing that they are still beta, and they don't have drivers released for Vista that are WHQL. Ah well....hopefully the real ones come soon.

Anyways, any word on performance and bugs in these drivers? Is performance improved at all? Are any of the bugs fixed?

I dunno...DX10 drivers on a new OS for a radically new product...it's a tall order. Give them time.

And one redeeming thing in my eyes is that the driver supports both the 32 and 64 bit versions even though a beta driver. They seem serious about supporting the 64 bit version which is cool as that is the only version I'll buy. (When the kinks are worked out enough).
