New Nvidia drivers not working?

I'm running a GTX 260.

Everytime i try to install these drivers my monitor goes black during installation and will not come back on. I'm forced to reboot into safe mode, uninstall the drivers and revert back to old ones.

Is anyone else having a problem with these particular drivers?

First time in 10 years i've ever come across this kind of problem with official release non-beta drivers.
