January 2013? Forbes just ran an article in December about nurse vacancies approaching 20% (3x the rate in 2009):

The issue seems to be no one wanting to work the shitty (often literally) jobs and the shitty shifts. I think the job market has gotten enough attention that its now suffering from what IT, MBA and lawyers have had to deal with: A plethora of people who don't have the skills or desire to work from the ground up but just expect a good job because of the low advertised unemployment rate who then go whine about their inability to land a M-F 9-5 job paying an average salary with little\no experience
I'd expect a slight uptick in the unemployment rate but since it started at 2% I highly doubt its anywhere near the norm

they are not looking hard enough. many do not want to leave their 'comfort zones'.
Night shift/weekend jobs are plenty. Besides, most don't want to relocate else where so...
