I am looking at getting an HP HDX series. I am getting the 2.8ghz cpu with 4gb of ram and 500gb(250gbx2) of hdd space. Also 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT. It comes out to about 3900 total with tax. I see this as the best thats out there for price and features. Ive looked at voodoo but they price is higher for this but I do see the set of features that would make it worth while. I would like some input on this. For the memory and hdd I am purchaseing from newegg because of the lower price. Much Lower

What is it you need exactly? A 20" laptop?

The HDX seems expensive to me to start with, the Dell 2010 may be cheaper with the same config.

No the dell m2010 hasnt been updated for a long time. It was never top of the line it was just idk expensive. With all the refreshes that have happened the m2010 is still the same as it was when it was released. I want a laptop that will obviously have a good future. A couple years ago I bought a hp zd7000a and is still in use. Thats what I want from this. Im not looking to replace a desktop with this but to have the power of one.

Definitely for the serious gamer. If you can afford it - go for it.

HDX

Is that the best notebook out there for the money though. It's the fastest cpu I have seen side by side with a top of the line graphics card. I have seen others with nvidias top card and well the cpu that goes with it is actually an embarrasment.

Are you insistent on that screen size?
Are you insistent upon DX10?

I am fairly certain that 7950s in SLI beat anything out right now, but I could be wrong.

Well Im just saying for being future proof even though there is no such thing with computers I want to be able to have this for a long time and when you go top end at one point in time it will last a long way down dont you think?

So, i guess you are saying, yes you are insistent upon DX10, but not necessarily that screen size. I am guessing that you are going to want a really large screen, so 17"+ That at least widens the field.

You should do some more research on mibile video cards, the 8700M GT would be faster than the 2600 XT most of the time. There are a few 19" laptops, you should check into them. Acer makes one, Alienware does too. Alienware's starts at $3999 though I think.

Maybe wait a few more days for the Dell XPS 1730 to come out, it should be any day now and will have SLI 8700M GTs or maybe a 8800m of some kind. I'm sure it will have the T7500, T7700 or higher, probably the newer X7800, X7900's as an option.

Again, you should do more research on this:

Sager NP5790
Xtremenotebooks Fusion, Reactor, Accelerator (Accelerator can come with a Q6600)

No doubt there are a lot more by now, those are just the ones I've run across.

The XPS 1730 will have the mobile extreme CPUs, Aus G2P, etc. This is all available with a quick Google search. The HDX isn't the only one iwth that CPU, and you should expect to see many more models with it in the next 2 weeks.

As soon as Alienware finally updates their notebook lines, no doubt the Extreme CPUs will be in there too. I can't believe they've waited as long as they have to update their Core 2 laptops, I have to assume they're waiting for the 8800m to be released.
