New notebook without OS

I'm looking for a new notebook for my kids without any OS pre-nstalled. Is it possible? I checked Dell's web site, however all notebooks have Windows pre-nstalled. I'm planning to install Ubuntu. Can somebody help to find a place where to buy?

Dell offers some n-series notebooks which are the standard notebooks without any OS installed. I believe System76 (?) sells notebooks pre-installed with Linux. You could always order a Dell and then not accept the license agreements and demand a refund on the OS.

I heard about cases when people got refund from Dell for OS. However I do not want extra hassle. Anyway thanks for the ideas.

I priced up the d620 last week.. open source and windows based.

Windows comes in around 60 dollar cheaper... you really need to shop around.. free os doesn't mean it's cheaper

EDIT:
Compare this

I just priced these up today.. dell with windows xp home is cheaper than NO or FREE OS

if thats the case, wouldnt it be worth the hassle to get the cheaper laptop, then get a refund for windows, and maybe even Works (since it comes with alot of windows installs)?

It would, it would almost be like a rebate on top of a alreadyt cheaper machine. Id try it if i had the chash to replace this piece o crap i'm on now.

What do you plan on doing with this laptop, y not just get a white box and make it ur self its not that hard, i have torn down the dell siting next to me many times, once u have looked at one pc you have seen most of them, They are very easy to build and some even come with 1 or 3 yr warrantys, or you could look at a maker like MSI or ACER for their lappys.
