New nic card coming out

I wouldn't think about trying it, ever. It's stupid. Most ping problems are not related to problems on the end-user's machine, and the amount of CPU cycles consumed by network activity is usually quite small.

Worse still, it's a stinking PCI card. Putting a gigabit ethernet card on the PCI bus = teh stupid.

Must be vaporware anyway, or there would be a place/link right up front with price/ordering info. Either that, or they have a pretty stupid marketing dept..

this looks like something Fatal1ty would come out with. it also reminds me of "gaming routers". in other words, these "gaming" products are a joke and are meant to trick 14 year old gamers.

lol, ping throttling. That sounds usefull

I have an idea, lets implement an adjustible lag mode as well, that way when we are sucking we can blame it on our lag. OMG WTF< YOU D0NT PWN ME< I RZ T3H LAGGING!

Anyone else think your cable modem/company is more at fault that anything else 99.999% of the time?

I'm 14 and I got intersted when I saw it:disgust:

the gigantic heatsink will help dissipate most of the heat generated by the NIC, ultimately increasing overall FPS.

distance between the two locations and your internet speed are the big determing factors.

Interesting idea. Network processing is a rather small performance hit, but I could see maybe a minor improvement in games. As another poster mentioned, the problem is usually somewhere between your computer and the server you're connecting to. If you lived in an area with crappy connectivity... it may be worth considering... but I'd wait for a damn thorough review before shelling out much more than 25 bucks on something like this. I'd buy a physics processing unit well before I'd consider this til I see or hear numbers showing otherwise.

awesome.

next we need a gui accelerator so that menu's pop up extra fast during games, it should be made PCIe 1x so that it'll have access to all the bandwidth it needs. maybe if the hardware designer also makes a api, GUX, vista can use the api as well. imagine menu's being calculated 10x faster than a dual core cpu can.

then we need a clock accelerator. it'll be a PCIe card to handle in game time more precisely than your computer ever dreamed of. they can advertise this as giving "real real-time"

I always wanted a separate CPU devoted only to the mouse and menus. That way, even if your CPU is bogged down, at least the mouse will work fast and the menus will pop up quickly.

I want a beer processor that'll improve the speed at which I fetch new beers from the fridge while gaming.

this is something you'd pair with...

dualchannel
low lat. ram
fast rpm drives
x-fi card
etc.

and your overall system performance will be greatly increased with whatever you need to achieve with this card. otherwise don't keep your hopes unless you got a good reason to.

Nah, this is something you'd pair with stickers on your chassis, glowing fans, and other junk that won't be of any use to you.
