So far so good with the SW IDE drivers.
Same with me on my Abit NF7-S R2 (minus the new ethernet drivers of course). The SW IDE drivers are actually working well for me but the memory drivers may be a tad slower.

is there a way to install all the drivers seperately (or at least some of them) and mix in some older versions for things like the NIC and sound?

I also nuked my system by installing the SW IDE drivers with the 3.13 package. Thankfully GoBack saved my butt this time around. You would have figured that nVidia br able to make a IDE driver that didn't stop your PC from booting by now, but alas this is not the case. I need to do a clean install again soon and see if I can get the SW IDE running that way.

1. Download the 3.13 UDP for whatever region you live in (I d/l the english version).
2. Download the 2.45 UDP for whatever region you live in (I d/l the english version).
3. Install WinZip if you haven't already.
4. Right click on the 3.13 UDP package and tell WinZip to extract the files to a known location on your hdd.
5. Right click on the 2.45 UDP package and tell WinZip to extract the files to another known location on your hdd.
6. Go to where you extracted the 3.13 UDP drivers to and delete the folders that contains the new driver revs. you don't want to use.
7. Copy the folders that contains the older driver revs. that you do want to use from the location of the 2.45 UDP drivers to the location of the 3.13 UDP drivers that you do want to use. Yes, just copy in the folders. I'd recommend the ethernet drivers for sure but the audio is good, you should try it before you use older drivers (just my humble opinion).
8. When you run the setup.exe for the 3.13 UDP it will now install the custom driver mix that you want to use.

Good luck.

I installed these two days ago. No problems at all. Windows boot up seems much faster, as well as app loading. Memory bandwith on sandra and PC Mark went up about 5%, wich is nice.

Thumbs up for these drivers.

just got them on...A7n8x rev 1.X with win2ksp4

i did an over the top install and WOW these drivers decreaed bootup fast. I don't buy into synthetic benchies @ all and I look for real world differences and i was amazed at how fast windoze booted up compared with the past! The last drivers that were on were the ones that came with my CD (2.03 i think? I was about to get the 2.42 but then that huge debacle occured where they were fubared)

that and scanning through many pics was very fast....all in all i'm happy! :)

The IDE controller driver is making my DVDs skip when in 4 speaker mode. At first I thought it was the sound card, but it was actually these new drivers. Deinstalled just the IDE drivers and everything was fine again.

I'm experiecing a lot of trouble with the included SW IDE drivers. When I want to copy a cd or date to cd my system freezes. So I decided to return to the 2.64 drivers.

My system:
amd athlon xp 1800+ (palomino)
2x 256mb ddr elixir (nanya chips)
a7n8x deluxe 1.03 (bios 1007)
memorex 32x12x40 cd-rw
lite-on 16x48 dvd
build byt ati 9000

Don't forget, you can always use the tried and true "Update driver" button in the Device Manager. Just do that for the device you want to update and point windows towards the proper folder in the 3.13 directories. All the other drivers remain the same.

This manual updating was good to do with previous driver version anyway, since the old installer would tend to not completely ALL the drivers. IIRC, I think it was the IDE drivers the installer used to keep "forgetting" to update, so maybe there ALWAYS was a problem with them and nVidia skipped them on purpose in the early UDPs...

Will the nVidia video drivers automatically install regardless on whether or not I want them when running the .exe?

I decided to revive this thread because I found a bug in the 3.13 drivers that others probably should be aware of. Actually, this could be more of a "lack of features" rather than a bug. In either case, here's what happened. I have an A7N8X Deluxe board and run two optical drives off the second ATA channel, a Plextor burner as master and a Pioneer DVD-ROM as slave. I also had Plextor Manager installed to take advantage of the AudioFS functionality for easy audio ripping (AudioFS lets you access audio tracks as WAV files). I only just noticed this two days ago, so at that point I had no idea what the reason was, but suddenly I could not use AudioFS anymore, in fact, the Plextor drive utilities completely disappeared from the drive's properties. I first suspected iTunes because after digging around in the registry for AFS2K (the AudioFS dll) I found it right next to the CD-burning service that iTunes automatically installs. I thought maybe this service overrode AudioFS, so I removed iTunes, but that did not fix the problem. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling Plextor Manager several times, but that did not fix the issue, either.

At that point I just presumed that my system was borked and nothing but a complete Win2k reinstall would resolve the issue, so I accepted the loss of AudioFS. Then yesterday I proceeded to install ExactAudioCopy as a ripping replacement, and to my surprise EAC could not find either optical drives!!! At that point I knew right away that the nForce IDE drivers must have been responsible, so I removed the nForce suite, then reinstalled without the IDE drivers, and sure enough, everything returned to normal. AudioFS was back in action, and EAC recognized both drives (and interestingly enough it picked the Pioneer as the better drive for DAE over the Plextor  ).

So, if you are an ExactAudioCopy user or a Plextor owner who uses AudioFS, you might want to stay away from the nForce IDE drivers!!!
