This is a nice private 4 unit apartment, rent is cheap and it's about 1/2 mile from the ocean and 5 mins walking puts you into some nice restaurants and shopping.
Anyway there is two 2/2 units, my 1/1 unit and then the efficiency our old land lord lived in, it's about half the size of my apartment which is way too small for me and my wife to consider a permanent residence, but next year we will be buying a house.
New landlord doesn't live here so they rented the apartment to a single college student (they ran it by all of us)...anyway since day one her mom is also living there. They only have one parking spot so they park back to front which now blocks our view to oncoming traffic (it's off a busy intersection during the morning commute and return).
Plus they are both chain smokers and it's filtering into our apartment (we think between where the medicine cabinets are, which would make sense since in the morning it's the worst).
then on top of that the mom has an absolute beater. It was leaking oil onto the driveway (which was nice white concrete), but now she has cardboard everywhere. It looks like a dump when she is not parked over it.
They live right next door to us so it's affecting us directly. They also have two bikes (they take the seats off for theft prevention, but they are not locked and sooner or later someone is going to venture into the area and scope things out I worry) and spools of coaxial cable and a few ladders all along the easement behind the units.
I was willing to give them doubling up in their place but on top of that the mom is majorly rude. She won't return a greeting to me, and to my wife she said 'whatever [beloved patriot?]'. My wife is not sure it was beloved patriot though, she didn't know 'beloved patriot' was a derogatory term for a chinese person (she is japanese), she said it sounded like 'beloved patriot' though, so I am thinking that was what it was.
Anyone have a situation like this you had to go to the landlord on? We just got ghetto'd.
