I pretty much listen to the same ole same ole probably for the last few years I havent introduced much new stuff into my mp3 player.

Is there no good new music?

I like most all genres, mainly sticking to rock/alternative/punk/pop/metal & some rap

where is the new sh!t? what are you listening to?

anyone else running into the same problem?

Go to pandora.com and set up an account. Put in bands you like and they will give you suggestions of new groups that you may like. Through a process of giving songs "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" it will learn what you like.

Guster is an oldie but goodie.

Sarah Borellis was impressive live (much better then Counting Crows, who headlined the concert where I saw her perform)

I'm in a bit of bands-I-already-like rut myself but try these singer-songwriters:

Grant-Lee Phillips - Strangelet
Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova ("Once" movie, Swell Season CD)
Anna Nallick
Carrie Akre - Last the Evening

Stuff I have found this month (mostly indie / alternative):

Pity the Fool - Ben Sadock
For Your Love - Marching Band
Damnit Anna - Morning Benders
Come Out of the Shade - The Perishers
Carolina - Ben Gibbard
Busting Up a Starbucks - Mike Doughty
Lolita - Throw Me The Statue
You Dont Know Me - Ben Folds
Refections in His Sunglasses - Little Man Tate
Magic Show - Electric Owls

Go to the iTunes store and listen to samples from the World Music section. Lots of good stuff. Even better if you don't know the language as you won't be annoyed by stupid lyrics (you can't tell if they are singing boy meets girl, girl tells boy to get lost, boy goes emo or a deeply moving spiritual).

I was just listening to Snow Patrol's "A Hundred Million Suns" on LastFM. All songs available, incl. one that lasts for 16 minutes.
