New Motherboard, windows won't boot

So I installed a new motherboard today and windows 7 booted up fine started downloading and installing latest motherboard drivers/software. while installing one of the programs off of the mobo cd, I got the Bsod.. Now it will only boot to the window start up screen. Tried in safe mode, start-up repair nothing has worked.I put in the windows 7 cd and tried to repair and it asked me to select and load hard disk driver? not sure what to select.

I have the hard drive hooked up to another computer and tried booting says something like "media test failed check cables". try to copy files:music, pics etc on to good hard drive says access denied, when trying to open user folder.. I'm on a guest account with windows xp and trying to access windows & user account with password if that makes a difference.

if anyone has any ideas on how to access the files to copy them or fix the windows problem I'd appreciate it. Other than to format it which is looking like what i'm going to have to do.

Thanks

Curious, but when you put in your new mobo, did you reinstall win7 or just try to do the new drivers? I've heard it can be done on some occasions, but most of the time when you change something drastic like a mobo you need to reinstall windows.

If you need to get info off the drive first I would suggest xSauronx's idea.

Thanks xSauronx that worked.. and yeah I didn't think to reinstall windows, but somehow it booted up fine the first time
