Put in a new motherboard last night since mine died. Tried running it, wouldnt go past the windows XP splash screen.. and actually it got as far as it dimming in.

Updated bios to newest version.

Tried again still same issue, tried some different settings in the Bios, still same issue.

When i boot to safe mode it seems to hang on the same line each time an iomega.sys driver.. never goes past it.

Not sure if that helps but i am wondering if anyone has ran into this same issue.

It wouldnt be the sata right, since i am not using them?

Was thinkin of reinstalling windows... but dont want to do that if i can get around it.

thanks for the help.

I'm using that same mobo /w SATA raid and haven't had any problems so far.
You could try repairing the windows installation.

exact same board as before? I'm assuming you didn't swap out a motherboard with chipset A with a motherboard using chipset B. However, iomega.sys would lead me to believe either a zip drive or a CD-RW or something of that nature made by iomega. Odd that it's hanging up on THAT driver of all of them.

actually hahahah i want even think about the 2 different chipsets being an issue at the time.. i just needed a good mobo.

i went from the KT133A chipset i think (epox 8kha+) to the nvida chip..... would that be the issue?

Ah, I missed that too.
That could very well be your problem.

Yea i would Say 150 (i did the binary dec conversion;) ) is right. windows installs don't always behave when you switch the motherboard with a new one using a different chipset. It's Been my experience that via chipsets are worst than most when doing this. I recommend running a repair with your XP cd. It may take a couple of trys to get it through. If it doesn't fix it up after the second try I would format and do a clean install. Actually if it's me and i don't have anything that is absolutely critical on the OS partition I make it a standard practice to reformat the OS partition when migrating from a VIA chipset based board to something different.

This is very normal. This mobo is diferent so the HAL is diferent.
You don't need a new install, just as fatal said reinstall (this screws up some software, like antivirus).

Just do a repair install. Remember, not the first option(repair console), but the second. Continue as if you were going to do a new install, and somewhere it will detect that you already have a windows installation and will say something like, "Your windows installation may be corrupt"...It will ask you to repair, so do that.

Good luck.

It's just it's hanging on drivers, so the reinstallation will clear all those drivers out. You may have to reinstall some drivers though(AGP, motherboard most likely). Everything else should be the same. You don't have to reinstall any programs or anything like that. It will be as good as new.
