I am having trouble figuring out how to overclock my CPU. I just completed a new build and was looking forward to tooling around it a bit. :( Here are my relevant specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte B360 HD3
CPU: i9-9900k
Windows 10 Professional

I have tried using both the BIOS and Gigabyte's Easy Tune software to no avail. In the BIOS settings, all my various core frequencies are stuck on "auto" and I can't seem to change anything.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

LOL. Thanks. That explains it. Huh. Well, this is infinitely faster than my previous CPU, so I guess I can live without the ability to overclock.
Did you buy a pre-built system by chance?

I've seen many of them include a B360 motherboard in their "gaming" builds with CPUs like the 9900k or 9700k.

Actually no, I built this one myself. I guess I just goofed and didn't realize I was getting the budget chipset.

It really is a huge leap over my previous CPU, which was an i5-7400. So I'm still happy. Maybe in a year I'll swap out the mobo and do some overclocking so that I feel like I'm getting some bang for my buck.

The B360 HD3 looks to have anemic VRMs, so he wouldn't want to overclock that 9900k anyway. There are even some Z390 boards that will cause VRM throttling with a 9900k. I would expect it to be stuck in 95W TDP mode permanently on a B360 board.

@Jerethi

What kind of clocks/performance are you getting out of your 9900k in that board? And what are you using to cool the CPU? Plus, what are your VRM temps while running something like Cinebench or Blender?

I think you know what I meant anyway :)

I have the exact same issue/situation, which is frustrating, because I did not know beforehand the limitations of the Gigabyte B360HD3 (lesson learned).
However, it seems I am able to tweak some settings using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (see attached screen shot).
I guess I will be updating my motherboard, which I was hoping to avoid, so I could upgrade without having to reinstall Windows 10 and also save some money.
