I am putting a new system together and it seems that I don't have the right power connectors on my power supply for the new motherboard. The MB has an 8 pin connector and my power supply has a 6 pin and a 4 pin connector. The 6 pin fits in the 8 pin socket. The half the 4 pin will go in the other two pins but the polarity if reversed. I believe the 8 pins all have 12V on them. So do I need a new PS or what here?

Look closely, you may have 2 4pins that join together to form 8. What power supply is this?

I ended up putting a new PS in it. The case I ordered had a power supply that was invented before the newer motherboards came out. It booted right up with the new supply. The old PS only had a 6 and 4 pin connector.

The 6 pin is for PCIe, dont connect it to the motherboard as it DOESNT have the correct alinements you will damage your board...You should be able to just use the 4 pin 12v CPU power lead....

The 4-pin PSU connector is an ATX12V connector. This will fit into half of the EPS12V 8-pin mobo power connector. This is a supported configuration.

The manual was not clear on if you could run with just the older 4 pin connector.
