New Monitor Needed

My monitor literally blew up. I was viewing an internet site and then all of a sudden I saw sparks and smoke billowing up. I haven't been following the monitor technology closely lately because I wanted to retain my monitor at least until 16nm cards become available along with 4K 120Hz non-TN monitors with G-Sync or an equivalent technology but right now there are no such monitors for a reasonable price, are there? I had a dell 27u11 which is a 2560x1440 IPS 60Hz monitor and I would prefer a monitor that's both larger and has a higher refresh rate that does not have a TN panel so either xVA or IPS or something equivalent. So I want a monitor that has a 2560x1440 resolution panel or higher and ideally higher refresh rate than 60hz, 75Hz would be enough. Are there any 3440x1440 monitors out there? Preferably with 75Hz refresh rate or higher and non-TN panel ideally with g-sync? If such a monitor is out of the question I could settle for one that has a 2560x1440 no-TN panel ideally with G-SYNC.

I found a monitor that seems reasonable, namely HP Envy 34C,(3440x1440) does that monitor have 90Hz refresh rate? I ask because other monitors with that resolution and size are only 60Hz according to the specs. By other monitors I mean Monitor Dell 34" LED U3415W , Samsung S34E790CN and LG Electronics 34'' 34UM95-P IPS. Is that Envy really 90Hz?

I've been reading about those 34'' monitors and I found that the panel is only 60Hz but it can be overclocked. Acer X34 Predator is officially overclockable to 100Hz, is that Iiyama also officially overclockable to 99Hz? How about that Envy, is it guaranteed to work at 90Hz? I've have chosen the Acer but it is the most expensive where I live, 5500PLN for the Acer vs 4000PLN for the ENVY and 3500PLN for the Ilyama so the price difference is huge.

UPDATE: I tried to find some more information about that Iiyama monitor and according to the official site the monitor does indeed support 75Hz refresh rate.

That would be awesome because I can buy it for 3500PLN whereas I would have to shell out 5500PLN for the Acer. I don't need 100Hz, 75Hz should be fine. The price difference is just enormous.

Can displays support both technologies?

I really need some help as I can't use my computer at all right now just after installing a FC waterblock to my graphic card I'm really curious if this will allow me to OC it any higher. I really can't afford to choose the wrong monitor.

I've used a flat and curved 34" (34UM95 and U3415W). The curve makes a definite difference, it depends on how close you sit. If you can reach out and touch the screen, you'll probably notice the corners are darker than the center. I'd consider it for a ~20% or less increase in price. It's very nice but not necessary. Unfortunately I am not the man to ask about *sync. I hear it is good, but from what I remember of your setup you could probably keep the framerates high enough to need it less than folks like me pushing 3440x1440 with a 290. I am unable to make myself buy the Acer at its current pricing, and am waiting for a cheaper or 100 Hz option (I'm locked in by spite so being locked by freesync is less of a big deal).

I have the hp envy 34c and it has a 60hz refresh on dp. I can play games like bf3 on ultra settings and it looks fantastic. I will never buy another flat panel monitor again as looking at windows while they curve to face you is so much easier on the eyes than on a regular flat screen.

It seems everyone who has used both the flat and the curved 34'' monitors prefers the latter so that dilemma is resolved I'm going to get a curved monitor. That leaves me with the choice of what essentially comes down to motion fluidity versus price. Is 60Hz monitor sufficient or does the price hike for a more fluid monitor is worth it? I can get the 60Hz curved monitor for 3250PLN or I can either get the free-sync Acer X34 75Hz for 4500PLN or G-Sync Acer or Asus PG348Q ROG Swift 100Hz monitors for 5500PLN which is yet another substantial price hike so I would end up paying almost 70% more for 100Hz and G-SYNC. What really puts me off about those monitors is the NV/AMD lock-in if I want to fully use the monitor. If choosing either one of those monitors wouldn't make me stuck with one GPU vendor the choice would be much easier I don't want to loose the flexibility of upgrading to the best choice regardless of the vendor. That G-Sync and free-sync bifurcation really makes a big stink in the monitor market. I think that variable refresh rate is a great feature but taking into account that choosing a monitor with that technology would lock me to one vendor on top of a great price premium is it really worth all the additional money? What do you guys think?

UPDATE: I'm actually starting to consider buying a no-frills IPS/xVA 60Hz 32'' monitor to tide me over until something enters the market with such specs: 4K 144Hz 32-34'' IPS/xVA with a variable refresh rate. Hopefully either my "dream" yet unreleased monitor supports both variable refresh rate technologies or both vendors settle for a common standard which would be awesome. With a bit of luck the waiting period wouldn't be longer than 2 years.
