New monitor -- Making strange smell!!

I just got a replacement Syncmaster 950p monitor from Samsung in the mail. The monitor itself is working fine (a small bit of blur in the top left hald side, but i can live with it). However, after about 30 minutes of it being on, this strange smell started comming from the monitor. I recognize the smell. Its hard to describe except to name it "new electronics smell". I know i've smelled it before with new televisions. My old syncmaster didn't have this smell.
However, the smell is REALLY strong, and i've had to open the windows in my room. Its been a few hours now and they smell is still comming from it.
Should I be concerned at all? Is it the metals inside just burning off or something? Anyone else experience this?

Nothing like that new monitor smell..

I had the same thing happen with my 950p and with my mom's new 955df (think that is the model-both are Samsung). Both work fine. They just take some time to lose that smell. I have no idea why...

it is ok. almost all new electronics give off that new smell. you got plastics and electronics expanding, maybe a little bit of flux melting. its all in good fun. if it starts sparking or smoking, then you got problems

Yep, the Samsung I bought for my GF's mom had that same very strong new warm electronics smell. I kinda like it. It faded after a week or so.

I've got a bit of that wonderful smell coming from my new rig, but it's faded in the last couple of days.

is there a way one can get a 950p from Samsung directly ? (Obviously they have some if they send it out for replacement ... ?)

I am desperately looking for this discontinued monitor and where to get one !!!

(Yeah..tried the web, pricewatch, ebay and all that already...)
