New modem and Windows Media Player not "playing" nice

OK, well when I listen to music on LAUNCH, after one video's done, the network 'unplugs' according to Windows, for about 10 seconds, then retrieves another IP and continues. I did just get a new modem which fixed my twice-an-hour dropouts, and 10sec. is certainly less irritating. But has anyone experienced these brief disconnects/"unplugs" before? Could it be the opening of a UDP port for the RTSP stream to pass through, or what?! I am connected through a router, which I also had when I had my old modem. My old modem was a 3Com, and my new one is a Motorola SurfBoard SB5120. I assume "unplugged" means that the modem virtually disconnected from the router and I have no connection from there. This only happens with Windows Meida Player. The rest of my connection and games is rock-solid unlike my old modem. My old modem didn't have the Windows Media Player problem, though. It only happens once every three-five videos.

where are you seeing "unplugged"? Maybe it's your router, try and connect directly.

The Windows notification area (system tray). I went in Windows Media Player, settings, network, and disabled UDP and TCP (other options are HTTP and multicast). Since then, everything's fine so I'll just leave it, I guess. I still want to know why my router is incompatible with MMS/RTSP no matter if I'm DMZ, Normal, Normal+Windows firewall, or DMZ+Windows firewall. The cable modem doesn't shut down, the router does. Also it's fine when hooked directly up to cable modem and UDP/TCP enabled.
