The dfi ultra d seems to be the official recommended board round here... just curious, are there any spanking new boards that are super sweet?

I am building another opty 165 box w no need for SLI... my only requirement is integrated sataII. I would prefer something newer or better than nf4 b/c I have heard rumors of incompatibility with some of my equipment (specialty stuff)... any ideas? what about that new ati chipset that was supposed to be unbelievable?

NO BUDGET parameters whatsoever, I want the best performing, easiest overclocking board out there... I'd be happy with 2.6 on the 165 chip... stability is important. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I love the Epox 9NPA+Ultra for overclocking and other features.

It's a lot less expensive than the DFI boards, and I bet since you don't want SLi, you'd appreciate the extra PCI slot.

yeah... sli is completely useless to me. I dont game that much and if I do, i could never justify buying two cards, 1 top o the line is always sufficient for me.

I've built several machines with the Asus A8N-E, and haven't had a problem yet. Defintely wouldn't turn down a Tyan either.

Yes.

But really, if you are going DFI, and want the mad overclocks, get the DFI Venus nF4 SLI-DR.

I've used a couple of the DFI boards, and they work terrific. My personal choice right now is the ASUS A8R32-MVP Premium. I'm only using one video card now, and probably never will go Crossfire, but I'd buy the board for another single video system again in a heartbeat.

1 ) Complete ease of use
2 ) BIOS flashing is easy, with multiple options integrated. I was able to flash to the 0311 BIOS before I ever loaded windows, and without a floppy drive.
3 ) The overclocking is the easiest I've ever dealt with. I have yet to even touch the CMOS reset on this board. If you go a bit to far, if it doesn't POST the first time, it will boot again, and state that an overclocking failure has occured, allowing you to change your settings in the BIOS.

I'm not going to badmouth DFI, but this ASUS is the best motherboard I've ever owned.

Is that aimed at me?

Granted, the ASUS boards aren't as sexy as the DFI offerings, but this is the best OCing board I've had for my Optys, and easily the most forgiving.

The newest DFI board is the cfx3200. It is the newest board, and supposedly overclocks the best, but its $225.
