Ok, I'm kinda on a budget here, but I think I can handle something in this range (give or take $20 on any one item)
CPU: $50 (1x Athlon XP 1600+ = $51.99)
MB: $100
RAM: $150 (1x 512MB Crucial ECC PC2100 = $141.29)
I considered a P4 platform, but it is just out of my price range (a 1.8A P4 = $150, leaving me $0 for a mobo)
Anyways, as far as a mobo goes I don't really care what it is as long as it meets a few criteria:
MUST BE STABLE
MUST BE COMPATIBLE (anything I plug into it will work.....no issues)
Reasonable Fast (KT266a or greater), I will be using PC2100 RAM as listed above)
- I'm using a GF4 Ti4600 as a video card (only 'cuz I got it for $30), and I want my system to be on the same plane, although I still can't afford top-of-the-line.
Here are some preferances:
No IDE RAID (I've got it in my file server)
Onboard LAN would be useful, although not needed
Onboard Sound would be useful, although not needed <- must be at least SB Live quality
Only really need 2 PCI slots (Adaptec 29160 SCSI Card), unless no onboard LAN & Sound, then I need 4. + 1 open space by AGP card.
