new memory not being recognized

I have a P4 1.8 running on an Albatron PX845PEV Pro 845PE mobo. I had 512 MB PC2700 Crucial memory running and I just added a second stick of the same stuff. During the boot up and in Win XP, it says I only have 512 MB. Any ideas on what the problem might be? I already tried making sure it was seated properly. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Tried switching memory? Take the one you have in out and put in the new one to see if it works. Cleared the cmos after adding the other stick? Tried all the slots.

I tried just using the new one and it worked. But when I put both in, it still only recognizes 512. Any other suggestions?

Use dimm slots 1 and 2 or try 1 and 3. 1 is nearest the cpu then 2 and 3. Manual says if you use 2 and 3 at the same time the memory has to be single sided.

Thanks, Viper. That did the trick.
