New memory causing video problems! HELP!!!

I bought 1GB (2X512) of memory and it is being nothing but problems. I can not get more than 640X480X16 and that is if it even boots. I have tried the memory in every configuration possible. The only way the system works is if I use my old 256MB only. If I use either of the 512s (with or without the 256) the system will not work right (mainly the video card). This is the new "high density" memory but it should work with my mother board. What could be wrong? Thanks for any help.

My system:
AMD Athlon 1GHz
MSI K7T Pro
ATI Radeon VIVO 64MB
Santa Cruz
ATI TV Wonder
DSI 56K Modem
D-Link 10/100 NIC
Promise Fasttrak 66
2 Maxtor DM+ 30GB+40GB
Floppy
Pansonic 8X DVD
Acer 12/8/32X CD-RW
Sparkle 300W PS

Which OS are your running? Win 98 or 2000? I heard that in Win98, the max memory that you can use is 512 Mb. In Win2K, you can use more than 512 Mb. Also, make sure your motherboard support up to 1G of memory. I am running Win 98 with 512 Mb of RAM. Never have any problem.

I am running Win ME. I know about the 512MB limit but I still have problems even if I only use 512. Yes, my mother board should support it. It supports up to 1.5GB.

My old IBM Craptiva had a 256m limit,INCLUDING my 16m video card.
Could this be the same type of limit. 512m + 64m video = NO GO! Just a
thought.

I just had that happen to a compuer I just built.
I went into the video card setup and changed the timming to the general timming tab and alls well.

lobsta1: No, that could not be it because the MB supports up to 1.5GB.

Bangsailio: Actually I have no idea. The chips have no name on them! :Q

billyjak: And how would I do this on an ATI Radeon? (I remember this on my old Geforce)

Well I finally found the problem. I had to go into MSconfig and enable "EMM Exclude A000-FFFF" Now it works perfectly with 512MB. If I put more in I have to use the "Limit" thing to keep it at or below 512MB. Too bad Win2K "KILLS" my system, I would love to be able to use 1.25GB of RAM! 😀
