Now I wonder...
Would it be more benificial to get 1gig now and just buy the same stick later as an upgrade
OR
just get 2x512 now to compliment dual channel, and when I upgrade, just buy 2x1Gig for3G total?

And now I must think about running on x64 architecture hmmm

I would consider it...you would also get better ram timings.

Just wait for vista ;)

I can't wait! :( Need ...NOW

I guess you might as well just get a 1GB stick for now and then in a few months get your second one. Just make sure it's a very common stick, like corsair value or something so that you'll have no trouble getting the extra one when the time comes. Yeah, 2x512MB would perform a little better than 1x1GB, but it wouldn't be very noticeable to you. You'll be STOKED with this system as is and STOKEDER once you can afford the other stick of RAM.

2 sticks is preferable to 4, to answer your other question, given that your memory timings will drop to 2T command rate with 4 sticks. You want the 1T command rate that you get with 1 or 2 sticks.

Also, just get the cheapo XP Home, cuz WinXP 64 will cause you driver headaches and vista isn't due out for what, 8 months?

sorry all, m1ldslide1 had it right when he said i didn't read the entire thread...my fault.

as for PurdueRy's quote, i was under the impression that he was still going with an SLI board and what i meant was he can't run two ATI cards in SLI; he needs a crossfire board. hope all the confusion is taken care of.

OP, i apologize again for the useless post. your board selection is good but so is the epox 9npa+ Ultra for $105. but no need to change motherboards.

for the ram question, i personally would get a 1gig stick for now for the reasons m1ldslide1 stated. your rig'll run awesome with 1gb of ram for the next few months, it's the months/years after that that you'll need the extra ram so you should build your rig and make decisions based on the future. good luck with your build

Finally got it together! :) Only played a couple games so far (oblivion!) and it runs perfectly on ultra high settings and everything up! Very pleased :)
Anyhow, stupid question but, where can i find the benchmarks everyone runs when they build a new comp lol?

:)
