New MB/CPU, now windows2k is messed up...

It's like this: I have a box setup with WME on one partition and W2K on another, both are using FAT32 configs. Been using it like this for a few months already.
I got me a KT7 and Duron 600 (Now chugging along at 850, just in case you were wondering), popped out my old MB/CPU and threw my new parts in. Result, WME started up fine and I installed the VIA service packs and everything was ok. Q3 gave me 85 FPS on fastest (yeah too bad, but I'm poor and am still on a V3).

Next, I restarted and tried to get into W2K. Too my horror, it did not even boot. It hung at the monochrome "starting windows" each time I tried. Tried booting off the W2K startup disks to repair it, but still didn't work. In the end, I booted to DOS and re-installed W2K over the existing, non-functional one.

Coming to my point, I now am able to boot into W2K. However, I'm logged in as user "xxx" and cannot access all my previous config/reg settings. My previous user "yyy" still shows up in Win Explorer (my computer->local disk->documents and settings->yyy). Logging off and on again as "yyy" does not seem to work and I can only log on as "xxx".

Question: How do I delete user profile "xxx" and resume using "yyy"? No, I tried doing that in the control panel, but the only user that was avaliable was "xxx".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hehe,

You have kinda the same problem I do. I had a win2k box and I swapped out the proc/mb. Now I could no longer boot. I get an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error. Everytime. Funny thing is I thought that my boot.ini files was messed up so I installed win2k in temporary directory to get it to rewrite the boot.ini file. Well, wierd thing is now I can boot into the new installation but the old installation still gives me the same crap INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. One of the status codes I receive is 0xC0000034 which is STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND.

Ok that was off topic. About your problem have you tried to copy the user "yyy" profile file/directory over the "xxx" profile file/directory? Of course I'd back them up before trying though. Try looking in the MS Knowledge base. See if there is something in there.
