new MB and HD problem.

I have a EVGA 131-K8-NF44-AX , http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a...88-007&CMP=KNC-overturesmx&ATT=product

and this HD WD CAVIAR SE16 SATA
http://www.westerndigital.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=133&language=en

I reinstalled XP and everything from scratch and for some reason I get the message to safely remove hardware.

the icon is in the tray and it says I can safely remove " WDC WD2500KS-00MJB0 at Location 0"

I have never seen this before and I dont know how to either stop it remove it or change it so it no longer shows up.

any help?

its a fuction of the mobo. its called hotswap.

lets say you had a second sata harddrive you would be able to plug it to your system and access it with out turning off your system. and then unplug it when your done. again with out turning off your system.

For nForce chipsets, you can add the following to registry:

In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ nvata,

add DWORD DisableRemovable, set to 1. Reboot.

Glad it worked ... one question ... Does it still give the Safely Remove Hardware when you
plug in a USB item like a Thumb Drive ? ?
