p.s. If anyone has suggestions for a way to get near the same performance at lest cost than the parts I mentioned, please let me know.

if you are building (what appears to be) quite a powerful system, you really shouldnt go with the onboard sound. its really crappy compared to an sblive or audigy. also, if you are planning on using this system for gaming, you should get a better video card (at least a radeon ddr)

if not, then it seems kind of overkill to get the latest processor. it might be a better idea to get the 1500 or 1600 athlon xp.

It wont be used for gaming, however I was told that they want the fastest system that they can get for under 1500. The one I configured, plus a monitor, is very close to that.

I just realised, has anyone had problems with the AXP and the Gigabyte boards?

Thanks

TNT2 Ultra?!? you will get a significant boost from spending a little extra on a Radeon LE or a Kyro II if 3-d is of any significance if you really can't spend the difference make it an Athlon 1700+ that'll save you 60 bucks or so

Actually, I talked to him about it and I think that I am going to give him a G450, because he does alot of work in photoshop and illustrator.

i may cut it back to a 1700+ however.....

But most importantly, no one sees any incompatibilites that I missed? no known problems with an AXP and the Gigabyte (my main concern).

Thanks ever so much
