New Machine Won't Boot

Hi. I just got parts for a new PC, put the machine together, plugged it in, the little power light on the motherboard came on, hit the power button, all the lights on the video card, little LEDs in the power supply, etc., came on, the fans were spinning, but there's no video signal coming out. Furthermore, there are no beeps from the PC speaker (checked and double checked that it was connected).

It's an ASUS P5K Wifi edition, 9800GTX from XFX, core 2 duo e8400, 4GB of OCZ. Any ideas?

Try only 1 memory module. If it doesn't work, try the other one.

make sure that the BIOS supports e8400.

Good luck!

Are all the Power connectors plugged in?

Primarily I'm referring to the Video Card (6 pin connector) - that happens quite a bit.

Also the square 4 pin connector by the CPU (if the layout's the same), but I would think it wouldn't boot up without that one.

yank everything and reseat all connections to the board. Install only the CPU (+HSF), the video card and one sticl of ram, power up the board to see if it will post.

I pulled everything out and turns out the problem was exactly what wanderer27 had said: the 4-pin 12v connector wasn't plugged in. Now the machine is booting and I've even gone ahead and put Vista on it and installed the drivers for the wifi from the p5k's disc, but it's not finding my wireless network.

I don't have that board so I can't say for sure, but I would check the bios to see if it has to be turned on. Maybe someone here withthat board can help.

Lucky it was just a power connection.

as far as i knw u board must be atleast a g33 based one i said minimum ok u can go in for even a x48 chipset ok
