New Macbook Pro

Hey Guys,

Refurbs of the last model can regularly be had on the Apple store for $1350. My question is it worth the extra 500 or so just for the aluminum and the graphics card, etc?

We're talking about the Unibody vs the Aluminum, right?

Well, aside from DDR3 RAM, Buttonless Glass trackpad, Sturdier Unibody, High Gloss display, updated dual graphics mode with the 9xxx series GeForce.. there might be more, but I think that's pretty much everything. If you don't need any of those, then I think you'll be perfectly fine with a refurb of last gen's model. I love mine. I would like to have a Unibody, but I don't feel like I have an inferior machine in any way.

I would buy the unibody if you can afford it. The graphics are a very nice upgrade (big improves for me in wine), the hard drive is dead easy to replace (a pain in the ass in last gen), The trackpad is just sweet, and most importantly the thing no longer tries to light me on fire when I use it on my lap.

necine, try macmall. they sell for a little cheaper on the aluminum new. its worth it for the macbook pro. a lot of people rave about the display performance vs the old macbook pros.

So the consensus is buy the aluminum pro, and it's worth the extra 5 bills... I guess I'm waiting a few months to buy 🙁

another vote for the aluminum! they are just so much better made/built as well. durable too! i know it sucks to have to save up more money, but in the end, it'll all be worth it! trust us! 🙂

have you tried the refurb store? they have pretty good deals for aluminum macbooks!
