No, it's not. It's a computer. Rebecca Romaine-Stamos is sexy...a 1967 Shelby Mustang is sexy.

Amen, Konichiwa.

The best I could come up with for $3097 is this:

AMD Athlon 800 MHz, 256MB PC133, Geforce 2 GTS/32MB, 40GB ATA-100 HDD, Asus Mobo, 3COM 10/100 NIC, Cisco Aironet Wireless card, Plextor 12X Burner, Pioneer 16x DVD, SB Live Value, MS Pro and Intellimouse Explorer, Win98 SE (Full), Klipsch Pro Media Speakers, InWin Mid-tower and a Viewsonic '19. I'm still $50 shy of $3,097, tho.

<< Presenting the Power Mac G4 Cube: a supercomputer miraculously engineered into an eight-inch cube, suspended in a stunning crystal-clear enclosure. >>

Hahah, I can't believe they are still pushing the supercomputer line. They find some obscure export law and use it as a marketing gimmick. Apple needs to hire more engineers and less graphic design artists.

HaVoC:

I don't want to sound like a Mac Fan or something but it sure takes a lot of engineering to fit all those components into a small cube...and to cool it without any fans. :)

And have you seen how fast the G4's crack RC5? They simply blow PC's out of the water! :D

I've always found that the people who trash the mac are the people that are completely ignorant of the platform and have never really used one. I use both Macs and PCs (Yes, built and overclocked numerous PCs) and will choose a Mac over a PC any day. Macs are so much more elegant and efficient. Granted, they have their problems, but so does Windows AND Linux. I could go on and state a lot of proven facts concerning performance and useability, but that won't make a difference because I have yet to meet someone who is willing to put their preconceived ideas aside and evaluate the mac as just a computer. Besides, what matters is whether the computer does the job you require it to do. What I will say, is that I can't wait until the fall when the dual G4s will be able to be put to good use... then it'll be time for a new system.

Hehe, I've used lots of Mac's, not any of the new ones, I did manage to crash a iMac at a store one minute after boot opening Quicktime.. :)

But we have a $15,000 Mac PowerPC workstation at school, that thing crashed every 5-10 minutes. You could count on it.

and do you know why it crashes? I bet noone in your district really knows how to configure it correctly.. Apple writes their software for their hardware, and if OS loaded correctly, it will be very stable. Otherwise, if it is in-store "break me" computer, what do you expect ?

Wyvern, I think you should know better than to post something like that here. Here everyone hates macs for the following reasons:

1) OVER priced
2) Under performing, YES a PIII 450 gets beet by a mac 450, but then that takes us back to reason #1, and thus underperforming vs price.
3) If we wanted life savers, the candy asile can take care of us.
4) Can't modify/add/tune them like a PC. And Don't tell me fire wire takes care of all that. Ummm, how high can I overclock a mac? Where do I put 6 hard drives in one of those?
5) It can't compete in gaming, and probably never will, wooohooo rage 128 anyone? YA the raedeon is coming, but ummmmmmm, I doubt it will take care of a PIII 750 with same video card.
6) Apple promotes single mouse button, as PC mice are going to 4-5 buttons, ya you can buy another mouse, but then see reason 1.
7) You can only buy from apple, sigh, technology should be as open sourced as possible, so reason yup you guessed it, so reason number 1 doesn't come into play.
8) Do I even need to mention software choices?

Well I could go on and on, no the PC isn't perfect, and yes MS is lame. But atleast I can have two computers, with larger screens and faster processors (and yes higher marks in benchies), all for less money than one G4 system.

resistance is futile, your ass will be stimulated.

oh wait, the new model does not vibrate, never mind.

anyway, what about their dual processor systems (non-cube, g4 case).

I love how Mac users claim you don't have to worry about taking care of a mac like a PC, that they're way more stable than a PC, but if it does crash, it's because you don't know how to configure/maintain it.

I thought one of the biggest reasons to get a mac (especially iMacs for newbies) is the maintanence free operation of it and it's stability. If you knew how to maintain/configure a win PC, I'd figure it'd run pretty well too.

The display iMac at the store I worked at used to crash while playing a bugs life dvd it came with, and we didn't bother installing any software of it. Out of the box crash action. I won't even go into how big a turd Mac OS 8.x.x was.

I don't hate macs, I just don't see how they compare in the land of computer enthusiasts for price/versatility/performance. I'd have no issues working on a mac if it were paid for by the company, but I like the wide array of hardware/software I have to choose from for my PC.
