But please explain to me how Morpheus, a death-pallid white goth man, and THIS WOMAN

wind up having a black baby.
I would have found it less irritating if she birthed, idk a duck. Or a dodecahedron.
Morpheus has a thing for darker skin. His inner desire for it manifested into the baby's genes. It's fiction. They can make anything up. I didn't find it disturbing in the least. It's his baby born in HIS realm. He can do whatever in his realm. You are also forgetting that Morpheus is the child of darkness.

Sinners (2025) - 10/10

This is a well wrought and very tense story that ends up someplace very unexpected.

I'm not a fan of horror but this was really well done. Acting is exceptional.

Letters From Iwo Jima - 9/10

Clint Eastwood directed and this is one of his best films. Superb!

A WWII film set on Iwo Jima and told from the Japanese perspective from the preparation for the ensuing battle through the end of the 36-day battle.

Character development is deep, 95% of the film is in Japanese with english subtitles, and the battle scenes - far from the focus were really engaging as to what happened in those bunkers when the bombs started dropping.

Fantastic film but not an easy/light watch.

Beneath Hill 60 - 7.5/10 (now streaming on Prime)

Based on a true story - WWI movie about Australian miners who go to the Belgium front lines to dig tunnels.

Gripping movie, great characters, solid action scenes and overall great storytelling by the Australian director with many Australian film awards won for this back in 2010.

It's a great watch!

Locked - 6/10 - I kinda new that it wasn't going to be great because there just isn't really a way I could picture the whole movie being good and have a good conclusion, and it kind of played out as expected. The premise was kinda cool though, and Anthony Hopkins is always a good watch.

I actually just finished watching this and came up with the same score!

One could somewhat sympathize with Hopkins' character if the other dude had been somewhat worse (like the dick in the workshop). Believe it or not, I almost felt good when the punks got justice served to them for beating up some dude (I'm anti-violence but totally pro-violence when it's served to violent people). But overall, the "locked" dude didn't deserve that much grief. That was Hopkins' character going full psycho.

Recommended viewing for people who think the world is awesome.

Yeah they tried to make you feel bad for the scumbag who was stealing stuff lol. I didn't want to empathize with him. But I guess they kind of make you change throughout the movie just like they do with Hopkins character. Initially you dislike him then at the end you like him, whereas it's kind of the opposite with Hopkins. Although I liked him the whole time, especially his psycho laugh.

War of the Worlds with Ice Cube on Prime video. So bad I'd like to give it a negative score. The aliens need data to survive (not believable.). Had to be made with no budget. Most of the movie is Ice Cube sitting at a computer doing a point & click for different apps (mostly video chat).

Fair warning...if you have any hope about the survival of the planet...you might not want to watch this movie.
We should worry about OUR survival. An acidic ocean could create a whole new mutant species (Kaiju?) that will then become impossible for us to defend against.

Hopefully, I'll be dead before that happens. But someone researching for a report on Kaiju origins will see that I was one of the people who predicted it. Who knows? Maybe the first known Kaiju will be named after me. Igoraju.

If we wipe out the oceans, Kaiju (?) will be the least of our problems...and we might not be around long enough to see them.

So my daughter asked me if we could watch Happy Gilmore since the wife said she wanted to watch the 2nd one that just came out. I'm a Sandler fan, probably to the chagrin of you ATOT folks, so I gladly obliged. I've seen the movie a bunch of times and some parts still make me laugh. My daughter, who's almost 16 btw, laughed at some of the parts too which made me smile a bit. Honestly, I'm just glad she's got any sense of humor. She's been watching all kinds of teen garbage, the old 90210, she's currently watching The OC, she's watched Buffy, and some other teenage type shows. Anyways, Happy Gilmore 6/10, mostly for the absurdity of it all.

Ah, don't worry. She's normal.

And if she's watched Buffy, make her watch Angel and Firefly too. And Supernatural! Oh, and one more. Heroes!:D

Hell no. No one should have to watch that series turn into dogshit on a Florida summer day.

Happy Gilmore when it came out was a solid 8/10 comedy by my criteria.

And I like a good bit of Sandler's work too. The Wedding Singer was one I expected to hate, and now I've seen it 3 times over the years. His company turned out Grandma's Boy which is comedy gold.

You forgot the parts of the film where the camera person is violently shaking the crap out of the camera lol. The CGI was also low budget. Bad and mediocre movies on these streaming services are unfortunately more and more common.

There's also the part where his daughters boyfriend is an Amazon driver who helps save the day by flying a drone, but the dad needs to order something from Amazon first.
