My point was that the association with Blacks and sneakers was not really on the OP's part (hence the irony of the accusation). Of course, you picked up the association from Gonad, so I should not have quoted you. Sorry about that.

This thread had a clear implication. This isn't the first post by the OP.

oops
I get it now
I did not read the article or get the *This doesn't happen in the lines for the iphones or ipads.... * in the OP

I'm Canadian, so my first thoughts weren't with the racist crap
😉

It's not racist if it's true. I'm pretty tired of race being used as a way to hide the truth.

You can also read the OP as * How come Geeks don't fight over iphones? But sports fans are ready and willing to die for their team.

Because geeks are more intelligent than the sports fans. I find people who line up to buy a phone, see a ball game, or buy shoes as all being pretty dumb. People willing to fight for any of those things are criminally stupid.

Don't know if serious or not.
Your going to have a bunch of geek sports fans riding you soon

A bit tung in cheek perhaps. The basic premise stands though.
I was just speaking to a fellow who paid $200 for two tickets to a football game, bought his girlfriend a sweater at the game for $75, and paid $9 each for beers. He also had 4 hours of driving time because of traffic at the event, and $30 to park. When said and done, he probably had $400 tied up in watching a ball game. To me, that's an unpleasant way to waste a fist full of money.

If it was a good game, could be a fantastic way to spend 400 bucks.

Kinda ugly IMO. I think the VI's were the pinnacle for Jordans.

It blows my mind that these things have been around since 85. I remember they were always ugly and you always had people fighting for them. If I remember correctly, there was a study done that demonstrated a direct correlation between the ugliness of the shoes and the number of people killed for a pair. Obviously, the uglier the shoes, the more people killed.

I don't think it is an intelligence thing, but I do agree that such fanaticism is silly. I dislike pro-sports and Iphone nuttery about the same. I suppose as long as it doesn't interfere with the truly good things in life it is not a big deal. When precious things are put aside for foolishness, that is when there is a problem.

I don't keep track of the OP, so the implication is not obvious to me at all. One would have to know his bias to think that I suppose.

I think his last statement is pretty suspect even in a vacuum. Maybe growing up in the rural south has made me overly suspicious of such insinuations, but nothing else he's said changes my opinion. He even uses such innuendo to attack me in post 14. He asks the question, and is welcome to give his own estimation as to just why such things happen over sneakers and not iPads as he asserts instead of just leaving it up to our imaginations as to what he's implying. Just as he's free to call me a liar and idiot directly instead of hiding behind intentional vagueness.

Couldn't find any stories here in the US? LOL

my fault for 'assuming' this discussion would focused here as this is where the 'racism' card is played, not in Asia...

OP, don't feel bad.

I am STILLLLLLLLL waiting for some links about how Japanese peple behave badly as the ones in Katrina (from another thread) and so far, still no go.

You just have to ignore idiots that claim "racist", "whities are keeping us down yo", etc. and etc. on anything that they don't like.

When in doubt, pull the race card. Don't stop, go.
