Hi,

I just got my new hanns G 19" lcd monitor today.

The screen keeps going completely blank every couple of minutes. It blanks out less than 1 sec then returns to normal. The entire screen turns blank(black).

I have tried different vga drivers, different resolutions. no help.

I'm using the IGP(sis760) on my motherboard. It didn't do this with the previous monitor.

should I send the lcd back,or could it be something else. Thanks,

Jason

update:

I thought it might be a windows issue so I rebooted and went into the bios and waited a few minutes. It still did the same thing. Guess that means it's not a windows or driver issue.

Are there any notifiers on the monitor indicating a spotty signal? (Like does 'Signal: DVI 1440x900' or something like it show up every time this happens (it generally shows something once it syncs to a signal)?)

don't you have a different vga cable or maybe a dvi cable you could try before you send it back?

OK, so from what I understand, it just blinks and doesn't have to readjust to accept a signal like when you turn it on (which generally takes at least a second). While the monitor is on, unplug the VGA cable and then plug it in again. Get a sense for how long it takes for the monitor to recognize and accept the signal. Then see if that time period is consistent with this blinking. If the blinking is shorter, then it's almost certainly an LCD problem (send it back). It would be quite a coincidence for your graphics card to fail when switching monitors, so I don't think the video card is just giving it a black signal. I think there is a loose connection to the backlight.

if you unplug it,then plug it back in, the lost signal message is displayed. The picture does reappear pretty quick when it's plugged back in. The blinking does seem quicker though. Time to RMA it.Thanks.
