New Laptop

I'm looking for a laptop for two tasks:

Using the internet around my house (wireless)

watching dvd's

I really like the glossy screens like Sony's x-brite. Can anyone recommend a laptop for these functions? I'd like to keep it under $800.

under 800 is going to be a little tough. you just missed out on the 750 dollars off a 1500 dollar laptop on dell


watch hot deals and grab something that interests you. the dell 6000 seems like something you would like

Check out the HP dv1000
They start at like $800, but if you're a student you can get academic discounts.
Also look at Averatec.

ya, the 6000 would do alright, but if all you do is surf and watch DVD's, and want portability....you should have gotten the 700M from dell with that 750 off coupon....but i guess youll have to wait for another one.

It's Dell's end of fiscal year so don't expect anything huge to be coming up in the near future. The reason there have been so many huge sales lately is becuase Dell is trying to get everything out the door before their investors see the sales performance.

Apple iBook would work if you don't mind a mac. You can get some killer deals in your price range with edu discounts.
