This is a really old laptop that has never been opened or used. I just opened it up for the first time. I plugged it in to charge for a little bit. Decided to boot it up. Got the windows booting screen. And then it looked like it was hanging (not going anywhere).
After 40 mins, I forced a reboot. Now I keep getting the error message that there is no media to boot.
In the BIOS, there is a SATA 0 and a DVD (Sata Port 2).
Why is it not booting SATA 0? Boot option 1 is only showing the DVD as the only only option to boot.
I found this article describing the exact same issue for the exact same laptop model, but the solution is to "delete boot option" does not work as described at the end...there is no option for anything when I select "delete boot option" (its just empty)

Its interesting that the poster says: "It detects the harddrive fine as in port 0". Does that mean that if sata port 0 is showing up in the config, its fine? Is it possible the hard drive is bad?
How do I make sure it isn't just a setting in the BIOS?
I suppose that as a last resort, I can open it up, pull out the HD, and connect it to a sata/usb dock to see if the hard drive spins up. Would that be a good or bad idea (i.e. would it mess up the boot files/system)?
