Ok, so this is where im at. My alienware is realllllllllyyyyyyy starting to annoy me. I spent close to 3k on this thing and it can barely run BF3 and do my everyday work, homework, etc. With this being said i'm going to be getting rid of it and replace it with one of the two below.

My problem is this:

Is 12GB ram overkill? and also on my current system i've only used about 20 % of the total memory, so im not really in need of 750GB HDD?

Any thoughts on which direction to go ?

OH and one more thing....Is there a difference between a 5400 RPM HDD and a 7200 RPM HDD? the reason i ask is because its an option to upgrade and if i'm playing a game such as Battlefield 3 will there be a difference?

The cheaper one is more than enough for gaming, 12gb of ram is overkill, can i ask what the specs on your alienware are and how old it is.

Oh and the difference between a 5200 and 7200rpm HDD are mainly loading times. 7200 lets the hdd access data faster so levels will load a little quicker

If you don't mind spending an extra 150 dollars, I would go for the Newegg laptop. The 12GB of ram is overkill, but the 7200rpm HD will help you load your applications and games.

You mean if you dont mind getting ripped off, make sure you get a recovery disc with the laptop and buy a 7200rpm laptop HDD (probably make sure it is 9.5mm not a 12.5mm thick) and replace it yourself.

Many Laptop don't come with Recovery Disk anymore, you have to create your own.
