I ordered on the 27th and got a delay of order e-mail. Haven't checked what they changed the estimated ship date to for me. It was 9/16.

Horrible. 3.5 second response from off. 0.8 seconds to capture without pre-focus. The number one reason I upgraded my camera (from Canon S200 to SD300) this year it was not for a smaller camera or for more pixels - it was for faster response. That is the most important factor in a point and shoot - the ability to capture spontaneous moments. If your camera is the best in everything else but cannot fulfill its basic purpose then it's as good as not having a camera at all.

I wished I would have ordered mine from Dell so my order would have been delayed so that I could have changed my mind. I got one from newegg for approx $360 shipped including a free 512mb sd card. The camera is ok but not great. It is super slow compaired to my DSC-T1 and the photos don't look that much better unless I had it on iso 50. On auto there was a lot more grain than my dsc-t1 on auto. I e-mailed newegg to see if I could return it even though it's return for same item only, haven't heard back and will prolly be selling it on ebay for a loss.

I would recommend checking this cam out in person before you order it online. I think circuitcity has them. I wished I would have.

Like I said a compact point and shoot with slow response is worse than not having a camera.

I've been playing with this off and on today and besides the shutter lagging more than I'd like I'd have to say it's a decent camera for the money, though I'm still thinking about sending it back to dell after I get some more testing in this weekend.

my god... tat penny must weigh 50lb !! lol

as my testing goes:
close up shots is extremely clear, same with close up portraits.
outdoor shots with ISO50 isn't bad at all, but still worse than my canon S400. at iso 200 above, noise level is too much.
Indoor (flash is useless), and noise level is beyond acceptable. which is probably the main reason why i can't live with this camera. the anti shake doesn't function as advertised, indoor shots in day time without flash still looks blur. (maybe overexposure as well)
video quality is bad, at least compared to sony or canon. indoor video is cool and nice but at 640res it looks like 320res on my S400 as well. when i bring the camera from indoor to outdoor, the video quality drops a lot. seems like it doesn't like bright sunlight in video mode, there is a layer of purple clouds when too bright.

i just ordered a Sony T7 instead. there is a $50 rebate for it from Sony right now. bringing the T7 to X1 price.

1. Shortened shutter-release time lag. (Time period from when the shutter-release button is pressed down fully to when exposure begins.)
2. Shortened operation time lag. (Time period from zooming lever is operated to when operation of any other function button is accepted.)

How's it work? I'd still be interested in this camera still if they could fix the response.
