Ok, I've had a chance to play with it a bit this weekend. Went up to Raleigh to look for homes, took a few pictures.
Start up time is quick. Picture-to-picture seems a bit slow. I'm wondering if my Ridata 66x 1gb SD card is the problem, or if it's the camera. It seems to take like a full 1-2 seconds for the picture to take, then write to the card, then come back ready.
I miss having a viewfinder. I keep wanting to put it up to my eye, then I get an eyeful of LCD. It's going to take time for me to get used to always using the LCD.
The pictures I took came out well, but I haven't really had a lot of time to look at them yet.
The dock is small, functional, and easy to take the camera in and out of. There is a tripod mount on the camera itself, not the dock. Most of the cameras this size, including the Sony DSC-T7, have the tripod mount on the dock, not the camera.
I like the movie/audio notes features. You can take full video, and zoom while recording. Most other mini cams like this will not allow changes in zoom while recording video. You WILL *hear* the zoom though on your audio. You can take 15 seconds of audio per picture (PICT0001.JPG audio note will be PICT0001.WAV). Movies are recorded in Quicktime .MOV format. You can also take regular audio notes that aren't associated with a picture. Unfortunately, they use .WAV, so they take up a good amount of space.
Menus are easy to use, and buttons are small but have good tactile response (you can feel them click). The manual seems very thorough, although I've just skimmed through it.
I'm very happy with my purchase so far, the time between pictures being the only caveat.
