Sounds like they all found a nice home. I married into a family with a 12 yo tabby and cat dander is at the top of the list for my allergies. She was recently diagnosed with diabetes. The vet put her on Purina DM canned food and now she's a lot better.

We found two new kitties today and they're super cute! 🙂

I don't think they'd make good indoor cats though. 🙁

I got girl troubles. Spayed my ass, Layla went into heat last night. Talked to the vet this morning so this will be a short lived problem. Fortunately, all the boys are neutered.
Layla finally came out of heat yesterday morning and spent the entire day and night flat on her side recovering. I can't believe her previous people put her through seven years of this crap.

Oso and Layla are sleeping on the bed behind me as I type. Things are going very well. We have a very boring household and cats appreciate that. 🙂

Hmm, maybe I'll pass on the drink, thanks anyway.

Ruckus was well named by his previous person.

Layla got her teeth pulled on Wednesday and is recovering very well. She had rotten, broken teeth and an infected jaw so it was needful.

This is Grayson, the most recent addition to our cat family. He has two older sisters named Chloe and Cleo who he gets along with very well. We've had him for a few months already, but just today he decided to chew up my wireless earbuds, but you can't really scold a kitten. He knows not to use his claws on bare skin, but doesn't understand how easily they penetrate cloth. So I look like I'm suffering the death of thousand tiny cuts. The worst ones have healed, and the purrs and snuggles are worth it. I've got three wonderful children, one of whom is still at home, but I'm shocked how much I rely on the companionship of my cats since my wife passed. I'm very thankful for Tigger, Jack, Theo and Misty who've all passed, and for Chloe, Cleo and now Grayson living with us currently. I feel like a crazy old cat dude.

Christmas Eve with no children is supposed to be relaxing. I left the outside Christmas lights on last night and they shine into the house. Ming and Oso decided it must be a party and partied all night.

Layla with Ming. Ming raced all over the house, wreaking stuff, and would come tearing into the bedroom to attack my feet and chase Layla. Layla was super-pissed.

Layla and Ruckus sleep on the bed with us. Layla sleeps on my chest so I had a cat fight on my chest. Ruckus just wanted to sleep and was ready to kill them.

Layla is all healed up from her dental and ready for her spaying. 🙂

:^D

I'd love to be a cat for a day to see what goes on in their beanheads. They seldom pass over the chance to act like retards :^D

Layla's spayed and healing up nicely. There's something off about Ming and we suspect he's a slight neuro cat but we'll just keep working to socialize him. Ruckus is carrying on being the world's most well adjusted cat.

Oso is over being a freaktard and is now a love sponge lap kitty. Oso was destined for the shelter's barn cat program because the staff thought he was unapproachable. He was definitely neglected by his previous person and likely abused (he's terrified of throwing motions and hid for three days after I threw a toy for him to chase). He had the world's worst adoption photo on the shelter's website: ears flat back, ready to fight. We LOLed at the photo and decided we wanted to see him. He was in a section of the shelter closed to visitors so we adopted him sight unseen except for the photo. 😛 Unfortunately, the shelter had already clipped his ear in preparation for releasing him as a barn cat.

Why do they clip the ears of barn cats? Torture?
They clip one ear to indicate that the cat has been spayed/neutered. Ear clipping is applied in trap-neuter-release programs where feral cats are fixed and then released back onto the streets. The clipped ear would alert trappers that a particular cat is already fixed so they don't need to recapture it. Since "barn cat" is a euphemism for "dumping", this shelter clipped their "barn cats".

My guess is that barn cats tend to attack dogs for some odd reason. Yes I seen a really mean cat attacked a a rather laid back dog once and forever thereafter the dog was deadly afraid of cats. Even kittens.

You've been corrected.

My new boy has chronic diarrhea. I'm gonna see my daughter tonight, and I'll ask how consistent that's supposed to be. She said once in awhile, but it seems like it's all the time. They're both still skittish, but the boy's pretty good. He's fairly charming when he isn't farting or destroying the litterbox :^P

You know how some animals will spin around before settling down? Imagine a cat that loves attention and does that before settling on your lap. Same cat also likes to pretend to do so before ripping one right in your face and jumping off your lap. Few things smell worse than cat fart (that eats animals), it's hilarious when done to newbies...otherwise it just clears the room.
