New job looking for a car

bmw 328d whenever it comes out.

or a golf TDI. friend has one, nice car, though not as premium seeming as the ones you talk about.

i guess if you want to go cheap, the cruze diesel i think is almost out.

That is why I said passat since it is a bit higherend than a golf. Plus it gets better mileage than the golf and jetta in the real world thanks to it using urea injection to meet polution standards rather than the funky crap the jetta and golf use.

Depends on how much you make and your expenses I guess. I live in San Diego, CA and I drive 60 miles a day round trip 5 days a week. That is 15,000 miles a year just in commuting so I bought a Toyota Camry Hybrid to replace my aging Maxima. It cost far less than a luxury vehicle, it is fairly luxurious, it will cost me less to maintain and it is a perfectly fine conveyance. Am I going to pick up chicks with this car? Of course not... then again, you never know, I am pretty charming. 😛

Hi thanks for the replies and suggestions. What I am looking is something that is comfortable to sit in and something that is not boring to drive.

I've owned an is 350 before and I enjoyed that car so much. Then a couple of years ago I've leased a 2009 accord, 2010 Prius, and a 2010 corolla. I currently still drive the Prius and corolla, but now I'm just really bored of those cars.

Those cars I listed were just a few that I was thinking but I would not mind getting a Hyundai sonata or genesis or something along those lines.

I never had any experience with Hyundai before. How are those two models?

I'm not sure if I will go new or used but if I do go used should I go with certified ore owned or something off Craigslist?

Define fun to drive, cornering ability, power, or a combination. A 2013 ford fusion could do well here, the hybrid model good for commuting, also the BMW 3 series would do well, the new 328diesel would be most economical.

I commute 45miles each way. Drive a VW GTI. Can't wish for anyting else. Small and easy to park in Manhattan, decent HP for when the parkways are open, very sound for all my music and the MPG averages at 30.

I love it.

I'm not from California but if the traffic is as bad as others are indicating here, everything will be boring.

I used to commute almost 50 miles each way, though I would do so in off-peak hours so it took about 65-75 minutes. None of my cars during that time were particularly nice but here's my feedback. My first car on this commute was my 91 Eclipse Turbo. It's my favorite car I've ever owned, but the constant clutch work in stop-and-go traffic sucked. My next three cars were automatics - Maxima, Mazda 6, and my current 6g Accord. My personal advice is to get something comfortable (won't wear you out after sitting in it an hour and a half at a time after you've worked all day), with a nice stereo. I upgraded the stereos in all my cars and it really helps the commute. My Accord is the least comfortable of these cars but is tolerable.

But as far as being boring in traffic - 0-20-0 in a Lamborghini isn't much more exciting than 0-20-0 in a Civic unless you're doing burnouts, but that would lose its luster after replacing your tires.

Ignoring that your wife made you get the car so she would not have to worry about chopping your gonads off 😛

Side note:
How much of your commuting is done with two wheels vs four?

If you decide to get used, you should consider the g35x or the genesis coupe that are listed on this forum.

The sonata is comparable to your accord.
