New issue: Bolding text of quote bleeds into response

Muse

Lifer
In the last few days if I quote someone's post and make a reply, then select a portion of the quote and click B (for bold), all the rest of the quote PLUS my reply become bolded. I have to select all the bolded text that I DO NOT WANT BOLDED and click B again to get the desired formatting.

Heh, just ran into this problem. Wind up with posts that have random bold sections (like clicking bold off, and then upon typing, I get some bold text again). Meh, technology.

Create multiple paragraphs in your own reply. No quotes needed.

Applying bold to a line above will smear over into all the content below.

^ Above example, I only used bold on "quotes".

Bonus round. Italics (and I assume EVERY text modifier?) is flawed in the exact same way. This behavior is consistent though I do notice some condition(s) on which it doesn't happen.

Forums appear to have upgraded to a buggy software version.

Yup, this is a real issue. Don't they test this stuff before turning it loose on their users?

Fake Edit: Just did a few attempts at replicating your issue below. It looks like the last update could have fixed this. With that said, when I edited this post Bold was turned on by default and it felt a little sticky to turn off. I'm going to test it more. Thanks for the heads up.

Taking a look into this. We had a recent update that may have fixed the problem.

"If this line's not bold then the problem could be old."

Oh, I see.
Edit, now that I know these specifics, the search was fast.

Chrome:
This is a line of text.

Another line of text!

But wait, there's more!

Firefox:
This is a line of text.

Another line of text!

Edge:

Good catch! We're catching up on some of the upgrades and with the issue limited to Firefox, I'd expect this to go away relatively soon without causing major issues.

I can understand it's an annoying hitch and I'll double check to make sure those links are accurate to our problem. If anyone is experiencing this who isn't using Firefox, let us know.

I don't know if it's something on my end, but the bold spilling below issue has been resolved for me for around a week. I think there was one instance when it was not, however. Maybe they fixed the code. It's evidently a coding error that was (is?) responsible for this. And, yes, it happened for other things, like Italics, IIRC.

Edit: I just bolded once sentence, no issue.
