To summarize :

No more monochrome screens on iPod, all iPods will have color screens with 30 & 60 GB capacities

No word on whether it will retain the iPod name or be renamed to iPod Photo or iPod Color

The iPod Mini will get either a 5GB or 6GB HDD with a color screen

The old iPod Mini (4GB Monochrome) will go down to $200

Apple better put some better batteries in these . . . with color screens, battery life is a huge issue


Here's the full expected lineup:

512MB iPod Shuffle = $100

1GB iPod Shuffle = $150

4GB iPod Mini Monochrome = $200

5/6GB iPod Mini Color = $250

30GB iPod Photo = $350

60GB iPod Photo = $450

A color 30GB iPod for $350 is actually pretty reasonable.

Actually, from what I've read, all of the iPod photos have better battery life than the monochrome versions.
 
Why have color screens? Are they going to have the ability to show images/graphics/photos or is the color just used for their interface?

lol, i know, seems that just YESTERDAY they came out with click wheel iPods!!

iPod Mini is about a year old though . . . it needs a refresh

Do you know what iPod Photo is? Basically, whatever THAT can do
 
The color screens are actually pretty useful if you have a well organized music collection with album art. It's nice being able to glance down and see the artwork on the screen.

the only problem is that i dont think they'll do that because a lot of people have cameras on their cell phones

i've been wanting to get a new iPod Mini since december but i've been putting it off for a higher capacity

this news is surprising, though . . .

1) I wasn't expecting a color screen

2) I was expecting a capacity of 5GB, not 6GB

Honestly, I think that would be silly and a bad move on Apple's behalf. If a camera were to be added, the company would be better off making a new line of "iPods" similar to the Creative Zen media players.

Apple either needs to go all out and create a complete media player, or stop about where it is now with the iPods.

or if u use it in a car..the color is probably easier to see even with the backlit monochrome screens.

Exactly... that is how I plan on using mine (and it looks as though I will be getting one of the 30GB models now).
 
ahh i see . . .

hopefully, there will be a little size reduction in the iPod . . . . . . that's the reason i'm going for the Mini, the regular is JUST A BIT too big
