This is such a rip...(snip)... apologise, this purchase makes very little sense to me and its nowhere near worth what they're charging.
I'll tell you what. You purc...(snip)... a smaller and lighter iPod. BTW: You might want to apologize for your spelling and grammar next time as well.
I am not a native English speaker and when I read this message, I find myself being offended. It is because I can't speak and write perfect English and you want us to apologize for the grammar as soon as we type or speak? It seems like you have crossed the line. Can you just focus on the topic and leave the discrimination alone in the future? The internet is a global product now and it is normal for non native English speaker to roam around forums. (Especially the hot deal forum)

Alex, don't listen to that punk... when people feel their own position is weak or in jeopardy of being proven wrong, they will start to attack their Opponent rather than the opposing position. It's a childish debate technique, so just ignore it.

Some people are willing to pay $299-$499 for the 15GB-40GB iPods for the use of it, the storage, the ability to store their entire collection, and other features like the voice recording and media card storage.

Some people are willing to pay $249 for 4GB because of the style alone. But, it also has awesome navigation design, good feel, well thought out design, the reputation of a proven product behind it, a small size, and colors.

ALSO, about Muvo vs iPod mini... or anything else for that matter... one of the cool things about the iPod, iPod mini and iTunes, is that you can sync by playlist. So, with a few click of the buttons, your iPod mini syncs with different playlists, genres, albums, etc, etc... Unless you're going on a month long trip, there should be no worry about song choice. And unlike the Muvo, dragging and dropping that many songs, etc... is a pain when you wanna change what you have on the player.

Last thing, the iPod and iPod mini can use songs from the iTunes Music Store, the best and most popular online music store to date. And starting Feb 1st, 1 out of every 3 pepsi bottles will win a free song.

I believe you can sync with the muvo2 as well using the software....but you are right that you wont be able to use the apple store music on the muvo2.

almost half the volume. its almost half the size.

4.1" height -vs- 3.6"
2.4" width -vs- 2.0"
0.62" thick -vs- 0.5"

Definitely not almost half the size and definitely less than half the capacity (4gb -vs- say the 15gb).
However, because the ipod is already pretty small, it's even smaller.

Not worth $250 imo. If I wanted an iPod i'd spend $50 more and get 15gb.

Last I checked volume was 3 dimensional. 6.1 cubic inches compared to 3.6 is pretty close to half the size. From the way you were comparing it, did you actually expect the mini to have 1/8th the volume?

lol he forgot how to calculate volume =p

ipod question:

I know ipods can be used for portable file storage. Are they detected as plug&play harddrives with no additional drivers necessary? I move between dozens of different computers and dont want to have to install any proprietary software on them to access my files.

yes, no extra software/drivers are required. it's like most external hds. shows up as a removable hd, at least in windows xp.

My 40GB Ipod is full and I wished I had more room. I travel a lot for business and the Ipod is great on the plane, in the rental car, in the work car.... blah blah blah. Maybe I'm weird but I like to have all my MP3's on my Ipod because I listen to different types of music depending on my mood. Also I run 256KB bitrate and I need more space due to the fact that I have an Audiotron on my home stereo and it's nice not having to rip especially for the iPod and then for the Audiotron.
