I'd say more of a 5.5 :p

60% brighter screen, lower price, better video battery life, lots of games, and gapless playback are what I can think of off the top of my head.

Hands On

"Maybe the best news is that Apple is dropping the prices and bumping the storage: you can get a spankin' new 30GB iPod for $250, and the new 80 gigger for $350. No word yet on availability."

You sure its out already??

Some of the comments in the Engadget news post imply that people already ran out and picked up the 80GB, and Apple usually releases an iPod when they announce it. You might want to call your local Apple retailer to make sure, though (BB or whatever).

Meh, they are okay. Overpriced? Yes. Are there better products out there? Yes. But they are quality products and you can tell just by holding one. And though other players might have better sound and better interfaces, the 'wheel' is hard to beat. I have been an iPod disliker for a while but I've had a 60GB 5G for about a month now and I like it. And installing Rockbox in it makes it even better.

Yes. I have a shiny new 80GB 6G unit sitting beside me. Your local Apple Store should have them.

Maybe there ARE better products out there than the iPod, but there are also better OSes out there, yet M$ currently has how much of the OS market share with Windows????????

IMHO, iTunes has the cleanest interface of any music manager and is very easy to use. The iPod isn't perfect, but for the average user it just can't be beat.

Just to make it clear I am no fanboi, I would jump to M$ or any other company's product at the drop of a hat (money or time is not an limiting factor) if it could give me the ease of use that iTunes offers...for example...I just ripped my ENTIRE CD collection to WMA Lossless over that last few weeks just to see if WMP 11 was up to the task of what I am looking for...it is not bad at all...has some nice features...let me rip 3 CDs at a time (iTunes 6.x does not allow that...not sure if iTunes 7 does)...BBBBBUUUUTTTTT...it can't beat iTunes...especially since iTunes 7 allows album art and gapless playback (gotta love that techno)...and with the new iPods having very commendable battery life, I guess I am a Pod-luver for another generation...at least until I can see what Vista's version of WMP11/MCE and the Zune can offer...

I bet is STILL doesn't have a decent EQ. probably still presets.

Hmm, website says:

Settings
Customize menus, check capacity, change your language, change how your iPod sounds, and more, all from the Settings menu. Click About to see how many songs are on your iPod and how much room you have left. Click Main Menu to select what items appear in your Main Menu. Tweak the built-in equalizer. Or set a maximum volume limit. Everything you need to personalize your iPod ? from the backlight timer to clicker sound effects ? appears in Settings.

Anyone know how "tweakable" the EQ is?
