<< The cost associated with bringing that design to retail [is prohibitive]. Manufacturing costs and packaging costs are huge, ramping up for production is huge, and then you start to look at, well, how many people out there are really going to be buying the 6000? Everybody wants to see it, but how many of those consumers are looking to shell out 600 dollars to buy it? >>

Ahaha, so they admit it! But I agree completely with him.

Wow, no ATi or nVidia bashing. Best Bubba interview I've seen in a while

You guys don't know Bubba, you've never met him. He happens to be a very good friend of mine. I've known him before he or I worked at 3dfx. So leave your ignorant comments about him to yourself. You have no idea.

Dave, Just after reading every single interview with him for the past year and a half its easy to say that he is not fit for the job he is in. PR people are supposed to say how good their products are not bash every single competitor there is. He is one of the reasons 3dfx has such a bad reputation. I´v alse read some interview with the designers and such and they dont talk about other products, they talk about what they have been doing, designing chips.

Still, this interview is the best I´v read from him, he is learning :)

He's not a moron, czar, he's just trying to sell his product. The fact that he bashes other products shouldn't bother you unless you really let those PR guys tell you what to do...

Wow, you sure know how to get off to a good start here. The only person who fits into the ignorant category is Bubba. That guy has stuffed his foot in his mouth more times than I can count. Some people just don't know when to shup up. Obviously that must be a hiring requirement at 3dfx.

Dave , i'l lgive you an advice , do you really think you can correct every single wrong thing people'll say about 3dfx ? if you really think some poeple here are morons , why don't you just ignore them , in the long run they'll just bring you down to their level , i relly think you are the one that should ignore them and let them think/say what they want.
'was just an advice :)

I've read some of the interviews and they truly are a joke. Now i'm not saying that others don't do the same, i'm just saying that I find his general tone to be condescending and cocky.

btw Dave, what do you mean by us leaving our "ignorant" comments to ourselves. We are basing our opinions simply on what we've read. What do you want us to do? I'm sure that none of us want to maliciously insult your friend.

DaveB3D with all due respect Members here like to express there opinion of PR spokesman it`s not a personal attack on your friend just there views & input on the response to the statments, look at Hardware our Member here, he gets more stick then anyone else I know yet most of the time ignores them,we also like some light hearted humour & jokes here as well so don`t take anything too serious when you have been here a little longer you will know what I mean.

I dont think people here are making personal attacks on Bubba, the person; but, rather Bubba, the bad PR guy.

IMHO Bubba is a complete moron, and if you don't like it DaveB3D, then too bad.

He'll never earn respect back after his tasteless refrences to so called "$5/hour Wallmart employees" after that Voodoo5 5500 recall fiasco last spring. His comments are ignorant and tasteless.

He has one of those personalities that make you dislike him without ever meeting him. I have zero respect for the guy. Nada.

It isn't a matter of if I like it or not..

You have no idea what the situation was with the 5500 delay and it was $4./hour which is impossible because it is below minimum wage.. it was a JOKE!

You are really stupid if you judge someone without even knowing them. Sounds like some Jr. High kid. Pick on some kid because he is strange or something. . Just because. I've done it myself, but grow up and get over it.

Yeah, I forgot about that one :(

And I found this in the "archives":

<< Voodoo Extreme -- Any status on the Voodoo5 6000? We get the impression that nVidia launched the GeForce 2 Ultra, at the $500 price tag, to compete directly with the 6000; with it's launch coming out prior to the 6000, does this change any of the 6000's plans/price/features?
3dfx -- Nothing Nivida does will change what we are doing with the 6000. What is clear is that they missed their product cycle. This is the third regurgitation of GeForce! It was our belief that a product cycle meant introducing a new product. How many times Nvidia expect the consumer to buy the same product?

Now that Nvidia has missed the product cycle with NV20, we plan to forge ahead. The Voodoo5 6000 is still a 4 chip, 512-bit interface monster with 128MB of RAM and over 10.6 GB of memory bandwidth. It will regain the hands-down performance crown for us.

You can't blame him for stuff like delays and the 6000 and stuff.. As the saying goes, "don't shoot the messanger". He just delivers the message, he doesn't make the message. The king does.. or in this case the company. Don't blame him.

Ugh, now we're reduced to insulting people's names? <drags hand over face> Why don't you just call him ugly, and use that as a reason for disliking him?

Bubba cant keep his feet out of his mouth. He repeatedly speaks with zero regard to what he is saying, and puts out enough BS to fill a pickup. I cant really blame him for the BS part, though, because most PR people do that.

If he showed some professionalism, or even social grace, i would probably hold him in higher esteem. Hopefully he is cleaning up his act -- I'll give him another chance.

Everyone loves to bash Bubba because he may say things that are a wee bit inappropriate in his PR role for 3dfx.... however if I remember correctly Derek Perez and team were found to be far more underhanded in thier tactics. The nVidia team didnt stick thier foot in thier mouths... they just tried to control the content of some sites.

Give me loud, bumbling Bubba over a sneaky underhanded snake anyday :)

PS: I am not a zealot... I could care less... if Satan makes the fastest card for the lowest price hes got my business :)

That is a good point... I was one of the "lucky ones" to be threatened by Derek... I let him hear it though when that happened.
