New Intel chips coming this year?

For a new gaming system:

When are the new Intel chips coming this year? What's recommended for a gaming system?

Are any new AMD chips coming that are competitive? (Nice to keep the competition going so chips keep improving).

Intel has Nehalem aka Core i7 coming up, it'll bring improved multi-threading performance but gaming performance won't improve much over Core 2.

AMD has Deneb, which is a die shrink of the 65nm Phenom. Early previews show performance gains of about 5 - 10% per clock.

For pure gaming, its going to be hard to beat an OC'd E8XXX for a long time, especially factoring in price. I would hop on one now.

Mid November for Nehalem / Core i7. There is still uncertainty over the Deneb launch date, it was originally meant to be late Q4 08 but now appears to be pushed out slightly to January 09.
