new install of windows vista causing screen problems

I recently installed windows vista on my desktop and i've noticed that my lcd monitor often restarts and the power goes from off to on. It's almost as if there was a momentarily lapse in signal. Is this normal and if not, what can i do to fix this? I've already installed the latest nvidia drivers for my 7600GT.

no, this is not normal. Try a different cable. It is also likely that the screen resolution or refresh rate is outside of monitor spec. Also, your monitor's auto adjust function could be running.
